Mahoney State Park
1999
May 28, 1999, was the
starting date for the seventh Mahoney State Park melodrama season. A week was lost due to calendar variation
which resulted in a slightly lower number of summer performances and a 10 week fall schedule. The dinner train
show and fall season were very successful, so plans were made to continue both. Our casting plans were the same
as last season for all three shows. Three male and three female actors at the park, three female and two male actors
for the train and two each for the fall.. The usual personnel changes were made to all casts. Shannon Marple-Hespe moved
out of town after six consecutive seasons as either an actor or director and Ed Dill assumed director/actor chores for the
train show. D. Chapelle continued for his fifth season as director/actor for the fall season. The plays selected for
production at Mahoney were "T-Minus Treachery" by past actor/author Brad Boesen; "Goodbody's Gold"
and "Stop Thief!", Both by D. Chapelle. (We decided to run the ever popular "Goodbody" once again,
this time adapted for six actors by Mr. Chapelle). Another casting change to the fall season was to include a cameo role
for producer John Burkhart in Mr. Chapelle's "Lovely Inn Danger", thus giving fall patrons a five person show.
