Mahoney State Park
2002
Friday, May 24,
2002 was the starting date for the 10th annual Mahoney State Park melodrama season. Our
casting plans were the same as last season for all four plays produced, Two male and three
female actors for the summer plays and three each for the 8th annual fall production.
Kristine Kapustka returned for her record 5th consecutive season and Fred Gartner completed
his 4th. Jade Lewis returned for her 3rd season while Erin Tylski and Shawn Carlson were on
board for their inaugural seasons. The plays chosen for the summer were "Two Gun Junction"
and "The Phantom Of Darkgrove" by D. Chapelle and "B Mine Forever" By John Burkhart.
The fall show had all of last year's veterans, D. Chapelle wrote and directed "Peril Of The Plains"
(his 8th season) with Vicki Clark and Kristine Kapustka (5th seasons), Fred Gartner (fourth Season),
Producer John Burkhart (4th acting season) and his wife Cecilia Burkhart (2nd Season).

A highlight
of the summer was a day of special performances for a regional Model "A" club.
Fred Gartner, Jade Lewis,
Shawn Carlson, Erin Tylski and Kristine Kapustka pose on our favorite vehicle, a model "A" fire truck. The club
parked their vehicles behind the theatre and there were hundreds of them! (That's the corner of the theatre and the
adjacent playground in the right hand picture).
